Near the end of his section, Ezio comes across a strange artifact which then warps the player (and Ezio as well?) into Altair’s timeline. He’s also able to throw them around and the game even shows the player where the bomb will go via a trajectory line that you’d see in any modern-day shooter. When the enemies come close, it explodes. In one example, Ezio uses an explosive as a proximity mine. At specific stations, Ezio can modify and tweak explosives to whatever situation he needs them for. Midway through the demo, he comes across bomb ingredients he can use.

Ezio also shows off his bomberman like skills with his ability to now craft and use bombs. I wonder if this means the medieval style doctors with their creepy plague masks are gone now.

A few things revealed during the demo: Ezio can now heal himself via a medical station. The demo shows off a much, much older Ezio Auditore struggling to get past the enemies stationed at the now Templar stronghold at the former assassin base of Masyaf. Revelations already looks to be worlds better than anything previously, armed with a new setting, a deeper story, and the return of Altair. Not that it’s a bad thing by any means as I still really enjoyed it. While I did enjoy Brotherhood, it seemed to be a more focused AC2 with a familiar setting and characters.

While it’s no surprise (especially if you’ve been reading the site for a while) that I’m a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, what the demo contained has already shot past my expectations. In what seemed like an eternity to me, Ubisoft has finally released the actual gameplay demo they showed off to Gamescom attendees at this year’s show.
